What is a prop firm, and how does WhitePips work?

A proprietary trading firm backs traders with its own capital instead of asking them to risk their own. At WhitePips you buy a one time evaluation, trade a simulated account to a published profit target without breaching its loss limits, and are then funded — after which you keep the large majority of the profit you make. Every account is simulated on a demo environment: the payouts are real money, but no capital of yours is ever at market risk.

Do I own anything when I trade a CFD?

No. A contract for difference settles the difference in price between opening and closing a position. You never take delivery of the currency, the metal, the barrel or the coin, and there is no wallet, custody or transfer at any point.

Is my own money at risk?

No. Every WhitePips account, evaluation and funded, runs on a simulated demo environment against live market prices. No capital of yours is ever placed at market risk. What you pay is the one-time fee. On Prime it is refunded in full once the account is funded and in profit after 30 days.

NoneYour capital at market risk
RefundedPrime fee, funded and in profit after 30 days
Can I lose more than the account?

No. The Max Loss ends the account before that is possible, and the account is simulated in any case. There is no negative balance, no margin call to fund and nothing to repay.

What is the difference between Edge, Instant and Prime?

Edge is the evaluation route: pass Edge 1 Step or Edge 2 Step and trade funded at an 80% split, up to 95% as you scale. Instant skips the evaluation: you are funded the moment you buy, at 75% (up to 90% as you scale) with weekly payouts, or at 70% (up to 85%) with bi-weekly payouts on Instant Go, which costs less. Prime is an evaluation with a salary: once funded, the account earns 1% of its size a month and, after 30 days, a 100% split.

Which CFD plan should I choose?

There are three programs. Edge is the evaluation route: Edge 1 Step has a single 10% target, Edge 2 Step splits it into 7.5% then 5%, and both pay 80% once funded, up to 95% as you scale. Instant skips the evaluation and funds you at purchase: Instant Pro at 75% (up to 90% as you scale) with weekly payouts, or Instant Go for less at 70% (up to 85%) with bi-weekly payouts. Prime is the evaluation with a salary: 1% of the account a month once funded, and a 100% split after 30 days.

What is the difference between a one step and a two step plan?

How the profit target is split. A one step plan has a single target and you are funded when you reach it. A two step plan splits the journey across two phases with a smaller target in each, at a lower entry price. Neither has a time limit.

1 targetOne step
2 phasesTwo step, lower entry price
NoneTime limit on either
Is there a time limit on the evaluation?

No. Evaluations have unlimited trading days and a funded account has no expiry. Max Trading Days: the figure on each plan

How much can I get funded for?

On the CFD line, account sizes run from $2.5K to $200K. The futures line runs from $25K to $150K. One trader may hold up to $1.5M across all accounts. Buy more than one and the bundle discount applies to the whole basket: up to 25% off, with up to five accounts in one order.

Can I buy more than one account?

Yes, up to five in one order, and the bundle discount applies to the whole order rather than to the extra accounts only: 10% off at two, 15% at three, 20% at four and 25% at five, the most one order can hold. One trader may hold up to $1.5M across all accounts.

10%Two accounts
15%Three
20%Four
25%Five, the most in one order
Can I hold CFD and futures accounts at the same time?

Yes. The two lines are separate products with separate rules and you may hold accounts on both. The $1.5M allocation ceiling is what applies across everything one trader holds.

$1.5MAllocation ceiling across everything you hold
What happens the moment I breach?

A hard breach ends the account at once: trading is switched off and the account's profit is void. On CFD accounts these rules can do that: Max Daily Loss, Max Loss, Max Loss Type. Max. Exposure, Strikes, Max Floating Loss per Symbol, News Trading, Prime Consistency Rule, Quarterly Profit Target, Max Floating Loss per Trade lead to a warning or a review by the risk desk first. HFT (scalping) and Profit Concentration never end an account: while either is over its limit, payouts on that account are paused, and they open again by themselves once the share comes back down. You get an email for every breach and warning. Every rule, explained

Can I reset or restart an account?

Yes, three ways. A Challenge Reset is the voluntary one on a live evaluation: you buy the same plan and size again as a brand-new account, with 20% off today’s price (or more with a discount code you enter), whenever the account has no open positions, in profit or in loss. Nothing carries over: a fresh balance, fresh rules, a clean record. Only a reset that a first warning requires is free, and that one keeps the warning. A free trial has no reset. A Challenge Restart is the paid way back after an evaluation breach: the same plan and size, from Phase 1. A Funded Restart is the paid way back after a funded breach: Edge and Prime go back through their evaluation, and Instant comes back funded at its starting balance. A restart is offered for 7 days after the breach, and nothing is reset while a compliance review is open. Separately, a funded account that is not breached can buy a Funded Reset once it is within 10% of its Max Loss.

Targets and trading days

Profit TargetWhat is the profit target? The stage waits

The net profit that passes an evaluation stage. Edge 1 Step and Prime 1 Step have one target. Edge 2 Step and Prime 2 Step have one for Phase 1 and a smaller one for Phase 2, and Phase 2 starts again from the starting balance. There is no time limit: the stage passes once the target is reached with no positions open and the stage's profitable days done. Instant has no target: it is funded from day one.

Example at $50K

On a $50K Edge 2 Step, Phase 1 passes when your closed balance reaches $53,750 ($3,750 profit) with at least 2 profitable days. Phase 2 then starts again at $50,000 and passes at $52,500.

If you break it
Not reaching it is not a breach. You keep trading, with no deadline, until you reach it.
The email you get
When you reach it: “Account (number) reached its profit target”, listing anything still missing (profitable days, open positions).

Days that close at +0.5% of the account size or more (New York trading days, 17:00 to 17:00). Edge 1 Step needs 3 to pass and Edge 2 Step 2 in each phase, the same on Prime; once funded, the same number is needed again before each payout. Example at $50K

A $50K account at 2,000% may hold up to $1,000,000 of open positions: ten standard lots of EUR/USD (€1,000,000) is about the whole allowance.

If you break it
Going over is warning 1 of 2, not a breach, and trading goes on. If the account is in profit at that moment, the profit is reset: the balance returns to the starting balance and the profit target counts from zero again; profitable days are kept. In loss, nothing is reset. A second warning on this rule closes the account.
The email you get
“Max Exposure” warning 1 of 2 from the risk desk, saying whether the profit was reset.
StrikesWhat is a strike?Warning

What a soft breach costs on Instant Pro and Instant Go: each Max Floating Loss per Symbol breach after the first is a strike, and each strike cuts the next payout cycle to a 10% split. Max. Exposure and Max Floating Loss per Trade are not strikes: their first breach is a warning that resets the profit of an account in profit, and the second closes the account.

Example at $50K

A funded Instant Pro on a 75% split takes its second Max Floating Loss per Symbol breach: the next payout, on $2,000 of profit, pays $200 instead of $1,500. The cycle after that is back at 75%.

If you break it
Not a breach: a strike changes the next payout or the reset, and the account stays open.

Max Floating Loss per SymbolWhat is the Max Floating Loss per Symbol on Instant?Warning

On Instant Pro and Instant Go, the combined open loss of every position on one symbol, measured against the starting balance (never the current balance). 1% sends a notice, the first 1.5% breach is a formal warning, and each one after that is a strike. How you may trade

News TradingCan I trade the news on a CFD account?Warning

Yes, on every CFD plan and at every stage: there is no restricted window around a release. One practice is not allowed: straddling, which is opening positions in both directions (or offsetting, hedged positions) on the same or a correlated instrument within 15 minutes either side of a Red or Amber (high or medium impact) release, a company earnings release or major geopolitical news, to catch the spike whichever way it goes. A position taken on a genuine view of the market, before or after a release, is fine. The system detects straddles and shows them on your payout request; the risk desk decides.

Example at $50K

US CPI is released at 08:30 New York. Buying EURUSD at 08:29 on your own view and closing at 08:40 for +$400 is fine, and the $400 is yours. Placing a buy and a sell on EURUSD at 08:28 to catch whichever way it jumps is straddling, and goes to the risk desk.

If you break it
Warning 1, then a final warning, then manual compliance review. The violating trade's profit is removed either way; its loss is not refunded. Never an automatic breach.
The email you get

Weekend HoldingCan I hold trades over the weekend?Warning

With the Weekend Holding add-on, chosen when you buy the account, on every CFD plan. Without it, close your positions by 4:45 PM New York time on Friday: anything still open then is closed by the system at the market price, in the evaluation and once funded. Expert AdvisorsCan I use expert advisors?Reviewed by the risk desk

Yes, on every CFD plan, as long as the expert advisor is genuinely yours: one you developed, own and control, can explain, and can show running. Pre-purchased, rented, subscription or mass-market “plug-and-play” bots are not allowed on any plan, however they trade. You stay responsible for every trade it places, and it may not be used for high-frequency trading or to exploit prices, latency or feed errors.

A trend-following EA you wrote that opens a few trades a day is fine. A bot bought from a marketplace and run as it came is not. An EA that scalps for a few seconds at a time runs into the HFT rule.

If you break it
Your own EA is allowed, and the other rules still apply to its trades. An EA that is not yours goes to the risk desk: we may ask for the EA, its logic or a demonstration, and the profit of its trades can be removed, a payout held or the account closed. Repeated or deliberate use closes every account you hold.

Max Floating Loss per TradeWhat is the Max Floating Loss per Trade card?Reviewed by the risk desk

How far one open trade may run against you: 2% of the starting balance (1.5% on Instant). It is measured on the open trade, before it closes. It applies only once your account is funded: it is not checked during the evaluation, in either phase. Instant is funded from day one, so it applies there from the start.

Example at $50K

On a $50K account one trade may float to −$1,000 (Instant −$750).

The email you get
“Max Floating Loss per Trade” warning 1 of 2, saying whether the profit was reset.
HFT (scalping)Is scalping allowed?Recoverable

Yes, within a limit, and the limit applies only once your account is funded: it is not checked during the evaluation, in either phase. Instant is funded from day one, so it applies there from the start. On a funded account a trade held under 120 seconds counts as a scalp, and from 10 closed trades, scalps may carry at most 20% of your profit. There is no limit on how many of your trades are scalps.

Example at $50K

On a funded account with $4,000 of profit, scalps that made $1,400 are 35%: over the 20% limit. Profit from longer trades brings the share back down.

If you break it
Going over is recoverable, never a breach: while scalping profit is over 20%, payouts on that account are paused and no payout can be requested from it. Profit from longer trades brings the figure back down; once it is back inside the limit, payouts open again by themselves. Your other accounts are not affected.
The email you get

What is the profit split?

Your share of the profit on a funded account, rising as you scale: 80% up to 95% on Edge, 75% up to 90% on Instant Pro, 70% up to 85% on Instant Go, and on Prime 80% for the first 30 days funded, then 100%. Every 90-day scaling cycle you complete adds 5% to the split, up to the plan's ceiling. A cycle is complete when, over 90 days, you make 12% net profit on 1 Step (10% on 2 Step, 15% on Instant), close at least 50 trades, have 2 of 3 profitable months (all 3 on Instant), no single trade makes more than 7.5% of the profit (5% on Instant), and no rule warning is raised. Each cycle also grows the account by 30%. Prime's split does not rise with scaling. On Instant, each Max Floating Loss per Symbol strike cuts the next payout cycle to a 10% split. How do I track my payout request?

In your dashboard, open the account and its Payout history tab (app.whitepips.com/#payout-history). It lists every payout that account has requested, newest first: the amount asked for and the amount paid, the status, where it went (the method and the last characters of the destination), the day it was requested and the day it was paid, and the proof of payment once there is one. Three tiles above the list show what has been paid out, what is awaiting payment and the last payout. Every request also gets an automatic receipt confirming it has been received, and every payout paid comes with a certificate whose verification code opens on whitepips.com. No time is promised for a payout to arrive. Payout Policy, sections 8 and 9

Why is no payout time promised?

Because WhitePips does not control when a payout arrives. The Payout Policy, section 10.4, names what decides it: banks and their cut-off times, weekends and public holidays in every country involved, blockchain network conditions, and compliance checks by us, our providers and your bank. What is published instead is when you may ask: each plan's payout cycle, printed on its plan page. Every request gets an automatic receipt confirming it has been received, and it is paid by the method on file for your account.

What if a payout request is held or reduced?

The Payout Policy says when that can happen and what you are told. A request can be paid in full, paid in part with the reason given, held while more information is obtained, or refused with the reason given (section 9.3). A payout can also be held while a suspected breach, fraud, chargeback, sanctions or identity question is looked into, and you are told it is on hold unless the law prevents it (section 17). On a CFD account, no payout can be requested while a recoverable rule is over its limit; payouts on that account open again by themselves once it is back inside (section 7.4).

Which platform will I trade on?

CFDs run on MetaTrader 5, so your charts, indicators and expert advisors carry over on web, desktop, iPhone and Android. Futures run on Volumetrica, which is built around order flow, volume profile and the live tape rather than retail charting, with its market data arriving over a dxFeed connection. The platform comes with the account, and every new futures account includes 30 days of market data; after that it is $35 for 30 days, paid from your dashboard.

What can I trade?

Three product lines: CFD evaluations, Instant CFD accounts with no evaluation, and futures. CFDs cover forex, indices, commodities and crypto, with the leverage published per plan: 1:100 on Edge 1 Step, Edge 2 Step and Prime 2 Step, 1:50 on Prime 1 Step, 1:33 on Instant Pro and 1:25 on Instant Go. Futures run alongside them under their own rules, with position caps stated in minis and micros. You can hold accounts on all three at once.

Does the leverage change when I get funded?

The most the platform lets you open against your margin: 1:100 on Edge 1 Step and Edge 2 Step and Prime 2 Step, 1:33 on Instant Pro, 1:25 on Instant Go and 1:50 on Prime 1 Step. Are expert advisors allowed?

Yes, on every CFD plan, as long as the expert advisor is genuinely yours: one you developed, own and control, can explain, and can show running. Pre-purchased, rented, subscription or mass-market “plug-and-play” bots are not allowed on any plan, however they trade. You stay responsible for every trade it places, and it may not be used for high-frequency trading or to exploit prices, latency or feed errors. Expert Advisors: the figure on each plan

Are expert advisors and copy trading allowed?

Yes on the CFD line, for your own: expert advisors you developed, own and control, trade copiers that copy your own trading (between your accounts, or from a master account that is genuinely yours, even at another broker), and overnight holding are permitted on every plan. Bought or mass-market bots, signal services, shared masters, account managers and challenge-passing services are not allowed on any plan. Weekend holding is an add-on on every CFD plan, chosen when you buy the account. Each is listed on the plan for both the evaluation and the funded phase.

Is scalping allowed?

Yes, within a limit, and the limit applies only once your account is funded: it is not checked during the evaluation, in either phase. Instant is funded from day one, so it applies there from the start. On a funded account a trade held under 120 seconds counts as a scalp, and from 10 closed trades, scalps may carry at most 20% of your profit. There is no limit on how many of your trades are scalps. Can I trade the news?

Yes, on every CFD plan and at every stage: there is no restricted window around a release. One practice is not allowed: straddling, which is opening positions in both directions (or offsetting, hedged positions) on the same or a correlated instrument within 15 minutes either side of a Red or Amber (high or medium impact) release, a company earnings release or major geopolitical news, to catch the spike whichever way it goes. A position taken on a genuine view of the market, before or after a release, is fine. The system detects straddles and shows them on your payout request; the risk desk decides. Is the account fee the final amount I pay?

The fee on the plan is the account fee. Add ons you choose, and the payment provider's transaction fee, are charged on top of it. You will see the total before you confirm, and the bundle discount is applied to the basket rather than to one account.
